Stamp Kissing- Try this fun technique!

We had a demo at the store yesterday...everyone got a chance to try their hand at experimenting with the Stamp Kissing Technique that is featured on the Hero Arts Blog this month.
This basic technique involves inking up 2 stamps, one with a solid design and another with a detailed design and pressing them together or "kissing" them to transfer the details to the solid stamp. Then this is stamped on the cardstock for a beautiful textured effect.....
Hero Arts stamps used for this sample:

The inks used for kissing are Hero Hues Chalk ink in Poppy and Iris. The sentiment is stamped with Memories ArtPrint Brown.

A variation of the kissing technique is to use a solid stamp with texture as an ink pad for a another solid stamp. Here are the stamps that were used for this:
The screen shadow stamp is heavily inked with Hero Hues Chalk ink then each of the tree stamps are inked on it, then stamped on cardstock. This transfers the pattern to the solid part of the tree stamps. The Screen Shadow stamp is cleaned well then re-inked with a different color to produce this colorful. example:

Here's a close-up of the stamped texture:
Hero Hues Chalk inks used: Cerulean, Grass, Poppy, Punch

Now it's your turn to try this fabulous technique....do some experimenting with your stamps! We'd love to see what you make with the Kissing Technique. Bring your cards and projects to the store to be featured in the window display!!

HAPPY STAMPING!!

Announcing the Stamp Fever Design Team

We have some familiar faces who have agreed to to teach regular classes at Stamp Fever and also to keep the store and the blog supplied with fabulous inspiration for you. Join us as we introduce our first ever Stamp Fever Instructor/Design Team:

First up is Kathy Ethington, she's a teacher, designer, decorator and constant inspiration to us!
Here's a little bit about the fabulous Kathy:
"I'm a paper crafter who met Tim Holtz and he changed the way I look at art. I embrace his techniques, and love to share my experiences.  With an empty nest, I can spread my crafting all over...need to be a bit more organized.  I'm hoping my daughter will get back into stamping, but being a mother takes most of her time.
My granddaughter loves crafts, and coloring is her favorite pastime. She alternates from drawing and writing, but is a natural stamper.  Not bad for a four year old.

I never thought I would ever teach stamping, but find that I really enjoy it.  I never run out of ideas, and when I get in a slump, I just pull out my Tim Holtz book. I love looking at art blogs, and find there isn't enough time in the day to make all the cards I want to try.  Look for some great box ideas soon. I am nearly finished with a Fairy Garden configuration box.."
Kathy will continue with the very fun All Things Tim tag nights and will also be teaching some great new techniques, all with her wonderful flair for the artistic!

Next let me re-introduce you sweet and wonderful Tiffany Ervin:
Here's what Tiff had to say about herself:
"I am a wife and mother....my interest in arts and crafts began shortly after
the birth of my son in 2004.  We had captured so many photos of him that I
wanted to make a personal storybook about his birth, and this is when I decided
to scrap book!  I made scrapbook layouts for 2 years before I ventured into
cardmaking.  With the guidance, support, and education I've obtained from my
fellow crafters and friends, my love for creating has really blossomed
throughout the years.  I continue to learn and try new techniques, to fine tune
my skills, and to share my creations with others.  It is a wonderful hobby that
gives me such great solitude, passion, and comfort!"

Tiffany has a wonderful elegant style and is a genius with embellishments and ribbons. She will concentrate her designs on Lizzie Anne and Penny Black. Look for her wonderful designer samples in the store very soon!

And now for a brand new teacher with the most delightful style...Ivy Wong!
Ivy will be bringing us samples using the fabulous Lawn Fawn stamps. These stamps fit her style perfectly and we know you will be inspired by her classes and samples. Here's a bit about Ivy:
"Hi! My name is Ivy. I live in the OC with my husband and 2 boys (ages 4 & 6). I love to dabble in stamps and paper when I have time. I started making cards about 15 years ago and started scrapbooking after I had my 1st son. People have told me that my style is happy & cheery. You'll see it in the bright color combos I like to use in my projects. My favorite technique is to paper piece. I love cutting paper!!  I have showed friends how to make cards before but I have never taught a class. Looking forward to this new journey in my life!
I hope you will all welcome Ivy as a new teacher. Look for her classes on the store calendar.
And last another familiar face, Nancy Krueger.
"Hi everyone, I'm so excited about being a part of this new team of  extraordinarily talented women!
I got my start in stamping about 27 years ago when I bought my first stamp, a teddy bear bookplate. I just wanted to label my son's books, who knew that a wonderful hobby would follow. Over the years I have learned some wonderful techniques for card-making and for mixed media art using stamps. I love nothing more than to get my fingers inky while trying something new. I'm looking forward to starting a Beginning Stamper series of classes. Whether you are brand new to stamping or just need to get caught up with new products, these classes are for you. For my designs I will focus on Hero Arts and a brand new company to Stamp Fever...Unity Stamps!
I will also be putting in some extra time keeping the blog updated and keeping you informed by sending out emails. You may even see me on occasion filling in for Linda!"

We are all looking forward to some great times at Stamp Fever in coming months; you won't believe what we have planned for you all! We hope you will stop by the store often to check out the new card and project samples. Brand new classes will be starting in March! See you then.
