Katie's Favorite Products

Happy Monday, crafters! We hope you had a great holiday weekend and are ready to finish up those Christmas gifts and decorations. If you're looking for some gift ideas to give to fellow crafters, we have a great feature for today's blog post. DT Member Katie has listed some of her favorite crafty products to use that would make great gifts!

T Ruler - I use mine for everything! It keeps everything straight plus it has a ruller and most are less than $3! A great stocking stuffer.

Martha Stewart Score Board - The large one is only $20 and there is also a mini board for $10 for those on a budget. The perfect tool for scoring cards and making so many other neat paper crafts.

Hero Arts Layering Paper - I use these for everything. The come in a huge assortment of colors and are only $3 for 10 sheets. That's 20 cards for only $3! They are a nice weight and very sturdy. Plus, one side of the card stock is white. They even have black! I buy a bunch at a time, cut and fold them so they are ready at my desk for quick card making.

American Crafts Knock Out Border Punches - These are great stocking stuffers! They now have a holiday board punch, too! They are small and compact. The carrying case you can purchase with a set holds 6 different designs.

American Crafts Glitter Tape - These tapes come in a package of 24 colors and are super easy to use. Just peal and stick to add a quick, sparkly texture to projects.

Lawn Fawn Acrylic Blocks - These are nice and thick with curved edges to make them easy to hold (which keeps me from dropping my inked image in the wrong place). They have a long one that is perfect for long sentiments, too!

Crop Hopper Tote Bag - Something every craft needs when they take classes... A tote bag to keep your tools organized when you're crafting away from home!

We hope you enjoyed Katie's suggestions! Let us know if you have any other favorite items that would make great Christmas gifts in the comments below.

Snowy Christmas Card

Today we have DT Member Katie's last CAS-ual Fridays card using the Naughty or Nice stamp set. Using the same sentiment as the card from Tuesday, she created a different card with a different look and feel. Keep reading to see how she put this card together.

Of course she used CAS-ual Fridays stamp set Naughty or Nice. She also used Penny Black's snow dust stamp. The star gems are from Hero Arts. If you really liked this card and the Santa Claus card from Tuesday, keep an eye out for her next class featuring these cards in our Newsletter and our Upcoming Classes & Events page!

We hope you enjoyed Katie's cards; leave her a comment to tell her how much you liked them!

Todays' card, Katie created a cute Halloween card. She used the Naught or Nice stamp set for the sentiment and creating the pumpkins. The pumpkins are circles from the set and she drew the green stems on them. The bats are from Avery Elle and the sequins are from Lawn Fawn.

Cute right? Come by the store to check out Katie's card as well as the stamps we offer from CAS-ual Fridays!

Clear Scraps Inspiration with Katie

Katie has been playing with the new Clear Scraps products and she has made a couple of amazing cards!
Clear Scraps are acrylic products for card making and scrapbooking. The Clear Scraps blog is filled with creative ideas for using these versatile crafting products.

Katie created this first card using the Garden Acrylic Border

Katie added color to the border using alcohol  inks. The background is stamped using Hero Arts tweed pattern. The gems/pearls are also Hero arts. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn Lunar lights and the patterned paper is Limeade from the Pink Lemonade collection from Lawn Fawn.

For the next card Katie used Clear Scraps 12 x 12 acrylic sheets for her card base!

She used an embossing folder to add the great texture to the card, then she layered on more great patterned papers from Pink Lemonade by Lawn Fawn. The butterfly is a ready-made embellie and the sentiment is from the Sophie's Sentiments set by Lawn Fawn.

You'll see a great selection of the new Clear Scraps acrylic products at Stamp Fever!

Do you still have some Christmas stamps on your desk?

Don't put them away just yet....at least not until you see this!!

Our Stamp Fever Design Team member, Katie Koenig, used the Hero Arts Flourish Ornament stamp in a very unique way.

Here's the stamp:

And here's Katie's brilliant card:

We just love how she silver embossed the ornaments and used them to make the scalloped border!! With some pretty background stamping and a bit of ribbon and twine Katie created a beautiful and unique thank you card. For more of Katie's ideas visit her blog, Katie's Quarks.

Are you looking at your Christmas stamps a bit differently yet?

Katie's next class is Saturday February 2 at 2:00. See the samples and get more info about her artsy technique class HERE.

Design Team Wednesday with Katie!

Let's Get Creative with Color!

Adding color to ribbon and embellishments can be done with just about any medium. I used Copic's and distress stain. You could use spray ink/wash, watercolors even food dye! Just keep in mind things like water may affect your outcome so don't take your card out into the rain. :D

Customize your ribbon and twine for your project using Copics, Spectrum Noir or other alcohol markers. The Tim Holtz Distress Stains are also perfect for adding color to ribbon or other textile embellishments.

A beautiful stained look can be achieved with a brown Copic marker on wood embellishments.

I made a quick card using the dyed ribbon and embellishments along with paper from Amy Tangerine's Sketchbook collection 6x6 paper pad. The butterflies are from Studio Calico. The label edges were inked with the latest Distress Ink  from the Summer Limited Edition set- Salty Ocean.

Don't be afraid to dive in and get your hands dirty! Have Fun!

Meet Our Newest Design Team Member

Please give a hearty welcome to Katie Keonig! She is the newest member of the Stamp Fever Design Team. We will let her introduce herself in her own words:

Hi! I'm Katie Koenig wife of almost 5 years to an awesome chef husband. I manage a small private foundation by day and craft by night; at least I try to when life permits.  I gave stamping a try about 14 years ago, however without a good teacher or place to go I packed away my stash.  A little over a year ago I rediscovered, via the internet, the world of paper crafts and found an awesome local store, Stamp Fever, to practice and interact with my new crafting family.
Bright clean colors are something I love as well as encouraging folks creativity. One of my first jobs was teaching, since then I've had numerous jobs teaching all sorts of things. I'm constantly learning the latest techniques and trying new things. My husband once said of me, "when it came to learning at the buffet of knowledge she just picks up the table."  I am so excited and honored to join the Stamp Fever design team and I look forward to meeting all of you soon.

Katie brings a refreshing enthusiasm for stamping and crafting to our team and we are sure you will love her cheerful disposition and penchant for all things bright and happy!

Katie will be teaching her first class on March 10 at 10am. Check out her card designs:

About this class, Katie says: "The class is focused on distress stains and their uses. I used more bold colors but that can be easily changed as can the sentiments. As this is my first class I planned on having at least one drawing as well as some sweet treats. I hope you can make it! "
