Saturday September 8 is Chock Full of Stamp Fever Fun

Before we get to September 8 let's give you a couple of reminders for this week.

This Friday is Lynette's Gift Card Holder Make n Take. She will be here from 1:00-7:00 August 31 to show you here her creative gift giving solution. Cost of the Make n Take is $5.00 and you will need to reserve a kit before Friday. Please call Linda at 714 974-3552.

We have an Operation Write Home Event and Katie's Card Class on Saturday September 8.
We know the class offerings have been pretty light lately so we are kicking off the Fall with a bang!

One of the card samples for our Operation Write Home event.

Operation Write Home is an organization that sends handmade cards to our military around the world. These cards are used to send greetings home to family and friends. I know from personal experience how wonderful it is to receive a card from a loved one on a long deployment. You can read more about Operation Write Home on their website- operationwritehome.org

Stamp Fever has planned an Operation Write Home card drive for September 8 from 10am - 1pm.

There are 2 ways you can participate:
  • Bring your handmade cards to the store during our event that you would like to donate to this worthy cause. Please follow the card guidelines found HERE. You can also send "Any Hero Mail"; cards and letters of gratitude and encouragement to be sent to the troops. Find out more about Any Hero Mail HERE.
  • Join in the card-making fun at the store on the 8th. From 10-1 we will have tables set up so you can make cards using our examples or your own creations. You will need to bring your Basic Stamping Kit and any other supplies or products that you would like to use. The store will supply card stock, paper, stamps and ink.
We hope to have a large box to send to Operation Write Home so we will need your help. Please give Linda a call and let her know that you will be with us for this charitable event. 714 974-3552

And if that wasn't enough....we have a class scheduled in the afternoon on September 8 from 2-4pm.

New Lockhart Stamps

We have the new Lockhart stamps for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas in the store. And as always Lockhart has sent along some pretty sweet card samples to get your creativity going.

Cute little trio of bats and I just love the Candy Corn stamp....so many coloring possibilities!

These aren't a bit scary but think of the fun cards you could make with them.
Okay that spider stamp is just upside down, he'll be fine once we flip him over.

This sweet turkey would look adorable on a greeting card or on a
place card for your Thanksgiving gathering.
That sentiment says it all!

How about some fresh looks for snowmen....juggling snowballs and stringing up lights.

And the holidays aren't complete without a bit of mistletoe and a poinsettia arrangement.

Get your favorite coloring method out and ready to go then stop by Stamp Fever to pick up some sweet holiday stamps. I see you spending some relaxing time coloring up some sweet images!

Product in the Spotlight

Okay, I know today should be a Design Team Wednesday post but I thought I would shake things up a bit with a Product Spotlight post instead.

Have you ever wondered how to use the fabulous Impression Obsession Cover a Card stamps? Stamp Fever has a great selection of these versatile stamps.

Here's just a few of the Cover a Card stamps we have at Stamp Fever: clockwise from top left- Houndstooth, Herringbone, Graph Paper, and Wall Paper.

Below are some samples from the Impression Obsession website, their Design Team has done a marvelous job of showing off these hard working stamp images. Drop by their site for a visit and if you see anything you just can't live without remember you can order through Stamp Fever, just give Linda a call at 714 974-3552.

The Houndstooth stamp is used as an all-over background with a tone on tone look.

Here the Herringbone stamp is used in place of a patterned paper to allow the flower image to pop!

These 3 cards show the Wallpaper stamp used a background stamped on patterned paper (top card) and the next 2 show it  with some layered stamping....beautiful!

Here we have the Graph Paper stamp used  as a background and stamped on a smaller panel. I love how these stamps can add just the right touch of texture and pattern to keep projects from looking flat.

An all over background is a handy stamp to have in your stamp stash. These Impression Obsession Cover a Card stamps will do just that, cover a whole card background. Or stamp them out in different colors and use as you would patterned paper to add quick color and interest to all your stamped projects.

Mojo a day late....

What happened to Monday? I think I was delirious from the heat but today is a bit cooler so how about some mojo for this week.

Are you tired of making cards and thinking in a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 box? Why not play with your stamps, inks and art supplies on a canvas? For this 8x8 canvas I used Design Memory Craft Gelatos and PITT Artist pens along with stamps from Hero Arts and Lawn Fawn and some art supplies.

For the background I scribbled on various colors Gelatos and blended with some water using my fingers. Yay, finger painting is so much fun!! A lot of trial and error went into stamping and coloring the bicycle which was finished off with a silver PITT Artist pen. Then I added some personal touches with doodles, tissue tape,  die cut clouds and the paper pieced banner.

So the mojo prescription for this week is to let go and try something new with no expectations. I purposely didn't share how I solved the stamping of the bicycle because that's all part of the artistic journey. How would you add a stamped and colored image to a prepared background? Don't have a canvas to work on...try a large sheet of watercolor paper or cut up a cereal box and use it as your "canvas". Just create something new and different and free up your inner artist!

Stamp Fever has a selection of Faber Castell "Design Memory Craft" products. Sometimes just trying a new product can be the spark that ignites your creativity and gets your mojo on a roll.
